First rehearsal review: Simple but very effective staging for Belgium

The last rehearsal before our lunch was Belgium. Hooverphonic took the stage to rehearse for the very first time. And we have to talk about it.

Hooverphonic opted for a simple stage show for Eurovision. The true star of this performance is Geike. Her attitude and her mimics make this performance stand out. It all starts with the piano shot and moves to Geike in a very soft way. It feels like as if she would watch straight into your stoul. She as a « creepy » attitude during the performance but in a good way, it totally works with the meaning of the song. Geike is in the middle of a circle. The circle is formed of the other members of Hooverphonic and a backing vocalist.

The camera work is very effective here. It has a lot of 360-degree movements around the circle. The graphics are very simple as well. You see some hands trying to reach the air and Heike in black and white. There are a lot of white lights around the circle.

Overall, this feels very slick and professional. This creates an atmosphere. This moves one step forward to qualify for me.
