Eurovision Asia won‘t be held this year!
The plans for the Asian version of the Eurovision Song Contest are suspended for now. Australian national broadcaster SBS, which wanted to organise the first edition of the contest is mainly focusing on „Australia Decides 2020“, the Australian national final for Eurovision.
A representative from SBS announced: „We will still continue to explore the possibilities of Eurovision Asia together with the EBU but first our main focus will be on „Eurovision: Australia Decides 2020“.
It was planned that the first edition of the contest would be organised in December 2019.
The EBU formerly announced to us exclusively that Turkey was interested to join the contest. It was expected that 17 countries would take part in the first edition.
